Gateway CAC is ever-changing and adding education programs, in order to continue to keep up with the needs of those we serve. Currently GCAC is offering the following education programs:

Trauma Education
The goal of trauma education is to help children and adults to have a better understanding of trauma and the affect it can have on people. The following topics will be explored:

Identifying what trauma is and recognizing the many types of trauma.

Learning the effects, symptoms, and impact of trauma.
-
Learning common feelings associated with traumatic events and basic skills to calm and reduce those overwhelming feelings.
-
Identify safe and trusted adults to talk to or report abuse if needed.
Body Safety
The goal of body safety education is to help children understand and protect their bodies from harm, and to develop healthy boundaries and self-respect. The following topics will be explored:
Learn and identify

Learning names and be able to correctly identify body parts.

Learning to identify risks and recognizing potential abusive situations, inappropriate behavior or touch.

Learning to set boundaries, understanding and asserting their physical and emotional boundaries.
-
Identify safe and trusted adults to talk to or seek help and report abuse if needed.


Healthy Relationships & Internet Safety (R.I.S.E)
The goal of healthy relationship education is to help children understand the importance of communication, respect, boundaries, and consent in relationships. The following topics will be explored:

Learning the the difference between healthy, unhealthy and abusive relationships and how to recognize and address unhealthy and abusive relationships.

Learning how to create and maintain healthy relationships and avoid unhealthy relationships.

Discussing the importance of communication, trust and respect in all relationships and with oneself.
-
Learning to set boundaries and maintain within all relationships in their lives.
-
Discussing consent, verbal and non verbal.
The goal of internet safety education is to help protect children from online risks and dangers, while allowing them to benefit from the internet's vast resources. The following topics will be explored:

Learning how to navigate the online world safely and the differences of real world vs the online world.

Learning how to protect personal information and understand the importance of digital privacy.

Discussing how to use social networks safely.
-
Identifying cyberbullying and cyberstalking and ways to address each safely.
-
Discussing sexting and the seriousness and legal consequences.
-
Learn how to stay safe from online predators.
Problematic Sexualized Behavior
The goal of problematic sexualized behavior education is to teach kids about appropriate boundaries, respect and consent in relation to sexual behaviors. The following topics will be explored:

Identifying inappropriate and non acceptable sexual behaviors and how to address those behaviors.

Learning how to navigate situations that involve sexualized behaviors in a healthy and respectful manner.

Discussing consent, verbal and non verbal.

Parenting
The goal of parenting education classes is to provide parents with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to raise healthy, well-adjusted children. These classes often cover a range of topics, including:

Child development

Effective communication

Positive discipline techniques

Strategies for managing common parenting challenges
By participating in these classes, parents can learn how to create a nurturing and supportive environment for their children, which can lead to better outcomes for the entire family.
